Frequently Asked Questions
Tallow is a nutrient-rich, animal-based fat, rendered from grass-fed cattle. It is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins that closely mimic the natural oils in our skin, making it highly nourishing and effective. We use tallow to create products that are deeply moisturizing, easily absorbed, and aligned with our ethos of using natural, sustainable ingredients.
Beeswax is a natural emulsifier and thickener that helps to bind our ingredients together, creating a smooth and creamy texture. It also forms a protective barrier on the skin, locking in moisture and providing a natural defense against environmental irritants. Additionally, beeswax has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, making it an excellent choice for skin health.
Absolutely! Our tallow and calendula balm, in particular, is formulated to be gentle yet effective for sensitive skin. The anti-inflammatory properties of calendula, combined with the nourishing benefits of tallow, make it perfect for soothing eczema, psoriasis, insect bites, and minor wounds.
We believe in sustainability and respecting the land and the animals we share it with. All our tallow comes from ethically raised, grass-fed animals. As we live in regional Western Australia, we make sure our ingredients are as local and traceable as possible, supporting our environment and community.
Yes, our commitment to the planet is strong. We use minimal, sustainable packaging materials to reduce waste, and we always look for ways to improve our environmental footprint. Our jars are fully recyclable, and we encourage our customers to repurpose or recycle whenever possible.
Our products are best stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Due to their natural composition, they may soften in warmer weather but will still retain their full effectiveness. If needed, you can pop the balm in the fridge to keep it firm.
Yes, our balms are gentle enough for children's skin and can even be used on pets, such as for minor wounds or dry patches. However, we recommend doing a small patch test before using them broadly, especially if your child or pet has sensitive skin. Our rescue greyhound, Juno, loves getting a weekly massage with our tallow balm!
Our lifestyle in regional Western Australia is deeply connected to nature. We practice homesteading, subsistence hunting, and aim to live harmoniously with the land. Every Wyld Hyde product reflects this respect for nature. Ben, my husband, honours every animal he hunts by using all parts, which aligns with our mission to reduce waste and celebrate the bounty of our environment.
No, we never test on animals. Our tallow is sourced as a byproduct from ethical farming practices, and we only test our products on willing human participants (including ourselves and our supportive friends and family).
Currently, we only ship within Australia. We're working on expanding our reach to share Wyld Hyde with more people globally, so stay tuned for updates!
